Music and Makan  - 2017 at a glance

As we come to the end of 2017 and look forward to what 2018 will bring, we can’t help but celebrate what an incredible year it’s been for Music and Makan!

This year, we featured a total of 19 brilliant classical musicians in 6 performances for over 240 guests in intimate spaces such as living rooms and art galleries. Guests were treated to repertoire as diverse as electronic music and jazz, alongside classical favourites, and even had the chance sang in the “Music and Makan Choir”!

We’ve had amazing collaborations with incredibly talented and passionate people across different industries – Ning Chong from The Culture Story (visual art advisory and space), Ethel from Sugar and Tease and Chef Kit Wong! Also, a special shoutout to Chef Han Liguang and team from Labyrinth (one-michelin star fine-dining restaurant) for their generosity and support!!

Other highlights this year include the privilege of being featured in the Straits Times Life! On 16 July “A little night music”. We were also thrilled to be invited to present Music and Makan on the Artist Panel at the Singapore Art Museum – Institute of Policy Studies Roundtable on the development of Community Arts in Singapore in March!

Tonight we’re having Music and Makan (for musicians only!) to celebrate the musicians – the very heart and soul of Music and Makan, who have shared their music so generously and passionately with all of us.

Thank you to every single one who’s performed for and supported Music and Makan this year (My venue sponsors, Liguang, Leslie, Joyce, Shang, Gen, Kit, Yun Yuan, Uncle Francis, Uncle Roger, Melissa) We could not have done it without you.

In 2018, we look forward to bringing more memorable Music and Makan moments into homes and corporations - keep an eye out for our upcoming events and thank you for your continued support!!

Happy New Year, everyone!
